Village News
The islands in Ocean Country have been celebrating the arrival of the next Umikage, Saizo. The long bridge leading to SHIPPUUGAKURE NO SATO has been closed for outsiders because they wish to celebrate this moment with Ocean Country natives only.
As usual, the Storm Country has been hosting the Asgard Games to welcome their Kanetsukage, Cornelia. It's a double special occasion because Cornelia is also the first female Kanetsukage. She has been picked for her courage, loyalty and outstanding power by the BOUFUUGAKURE NO SATO elders.
Not only that, but the Cherry Blossom Country has become relieved as well. It seems that everyone is slowly picking up after the war now. KUSAMURAGAKURE NO SATO proudly presented their new Sakurakage, Altair.
TSUKIGAKURE NO SATO is still thriving on the merchants coming in and out. They have not experienced anything special lately. Their wealth has remained the same as they were not forced to invest into shinobi unlike the others.
On the cold isles of the Blizzard Country, HYOUGAGAKURE NO SATO has still refused to create a free traveling policy. Some habits never change. To protect their traditions, they have even warned outsiders to not interfere with their matters.
Now that everyone is picking up again, who will come out on top?

Ship Repair:

Another fine, cloudy day in Shippuugakure would surely yield another fun adventure for Rin to embark on. After a quick visit to the Administration Offices, he had been given his next menial task to occupy his day. It seemed the normal repair crews, namely genin squads, that were normally tasked with repairing the incoming ships that had been damaged by the increase in pirate activity had their hands full. So, who better to call upon for a lowly labour job than Rin, who apparently had nothing better to do with his time? After a very concise briefing, mostly due to the minor fit Rin had thrown over being tasked on yet another menial chore, he headed off to the Ao Phalanx Harbour. The smell of rotten fish had grown all too familiar on him, with all the time he'd been spending on these docks lately.

So, according to the piece of parchment that the briefing officer had scribbled upon oh so nicely, all Rin was to do at the docks was oversee and aid in the repairs of one of the boats. It seemed simple enough, just repair a few holes and make the boat look pretty again, yeah? He thought so too, until he took his first step onto the docks and immediately identified the vessel he would be repairing. Not only was the damn thing barely afloat, but it was missing two masts! “You've gotta be kidding me... I have to fix that myself?!” he said, a grown escaping from his lips seconds after. He knew fully well that the crew wouldn't be giving him a hand. Rin had been around much too long to be that naïve.

He had nothing better planned to be done for the day, so he released a defeated and exhausting sounding sigh from his lips. He approached the boat and noted the various materials that were strewn about the dock and sighed. Complaining about it wouldn't get the work done any faster, so he sucked it up and made himself busy. Rin stared by repairing the outer hull, which had to be started from the inside of the boat. The support boards had been damaged or were completely missing. He cut out the destroyed bits using a saw, tore out what was left, and worked on replacing them with new lumber. Once they were put in place, secured, fastened, and whatever else the damn things needed to stay in place without moving, Rin moved back outside the vessel. Luckily, the damaged parts of the hull were above the water. There wouldn't be any going in the water for Rin today, not at all. As a bonus, he wouldn't have to haul out the water in the bilge.

Using those well put together support boards that he had just finished fixing on the inside of the boat, Rin began to cut away at the damaged planks on the outside. He tore away the broken pieces and tossed them into a nice pile on top of the docks. Once the hull had been cleaned up and the hole was ready to be patched up, Rin cut each board to length and carefully beat the shit out of it until it stayed in place. He was no trained, professional carpenter, but he'd be damned if his work didn't look good. With the boards neatly fastened into place, Rin moved to the next task. All that was left was bringing up the two masts. Luckily, they too had already been set into place and only needed the aid from a particularly strong individual to raise them. Rin happened to be that poor schmuck who got picked for that. Using the ropes and pulleys that had already been put into place, the young shinobi pulled and heaved the hulking masses of wood into place, until they sat snugly in the brace below. He quickly fastened the brace to the mast, which held it nicely in place.

With that done, Rin happily headed back to the Administration Offices to collect his pay and give his superiors a good scolding for tasking him on such a menial assignment.
